Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa te whanau whanui o te Kura Tuatahi o Whakatu – greetings to friends and family of Nelson Central School

School closure
School will close after the final assembly on Friday 19 December. The assembly will start at 11:15am on the front field if the weather is suitable. If the weather is not suitable we will make a new decision during the morning about how we celebrate the end of the year.

For Parents and Whanau: Reports
You will have received your child’s report by now. Your child’s 2015 teacher will be happy to discuss with you anything in the report before the end of term 1 next year. If you want to have that conversation earlier, please wait until February/March.

Meet the teachers
Early in the New Year there will be an opportunity to ‘meet the teachers’ and get to know what they have in mind for their classes. At this stage that has been set down for the week 16-20 February – details for each syndicate will be sent home early in the New Year.

Lost property
A reminder that if your child is missing items of clothing ask them to check the lost property box before the end of the term. Yesterday all items were displayed so children could clai their property. At the end of the week we will be looking for a new home for anything left behind!

School stationery
You child should bring home a 2015 class stationery list on Thursday. We have arranged for these items to be available at Office Max, Cnr Rutherford Street and Selwyn Place. All you need to do is take the list into Office Max and they will hand over a stationery pack. If you prefer to go shopping for a better deal, you can pick up a class list from the office before lunchtime next Thursday.

I trust everyone will take the opportunity to have a good break and recharge their batteries ready for a great time in 2015.

Naku noa, na

Dr Paul Potaka
